Carefully selected by top Australian violin performers and pedagogues, the grade books for Preliminary to Grade 7 feature a diversity of musical styles and often include works by celebrated Australian composers. Repertoire is carefully coordinated to align with the technical requirements at each grade level.
Technical Work & Sight Reading
The Violin Technical Work Book (2011) contains all of the technical work required by the AMEB Violin Syllabus for examinations from Preliminary to Grade 8. The Technical Work book features fully-notated scales, arpeggios and technical exercises in a logical and convenient layout.
Violin Sight Reading contains examples of the kind of sight-reading material candidates may encounter in examinations from Grade 1 to Grade 8.
Recording & Handbooks
Violin Series 9 Recording & Handbooks contain a CD with recordings of all the repertoire that is contained in the corresponding grade book, as well as detailed analyses of all these pieces with a wealth of information about the historical, biographical and interpretative elements of each of the works. Complete with a glossary of key terms, the Recording & Handbook helps students address the General Knowledge requirements of examinations.
Recorded Accompaniments
AMEB now offers Recorded Accompaniments for use in study and examinations in early grades. Where AMEB Recorded Accompaniments are available, candidates may perform with those recordings in examinations. These piano accompaniments have been recorded as practice tools and for use in early grade AMEB examinations. They feature performances of the accompaniment part for pieces in the corresponding AMEB grade books and can be used in conjunction with the MyTempo app as a practice resource. AMEB encourages candidates and teachers to rehearse and perform with live accompanists wherever this is possible.
Recorded accompaniments are available to stream or purchase from all online digital music retailers or YouTube.
